Early last month, Liu De, Co-Founder and VP of Xiaomi had confirmed the presence of a Xiaomi Smartwatch at the launch of the Mi Max in China. He has also added that the Mi Smartwatch will debut sometime in the second half of 2016. While this doesn’t give much information regarding the exact launch date of the smartwatch; the CEO of Huami, the company which apparently manufactures the wearables for Xiaomi, including the iconic Mi Band, states that the Chinese brand will launch the Mi Smartwatch in September....

It is a question that has been asked a number of times in different ways, once even in an expletive embellished headline on a notable blog, ever since Xiaomi started selling phones in India. The company might have made itself one of the most noteworthy players in the intensely competitive Indian smartphone market, thanks to its ability to offer well-designed and well-specced devices at surprisingly affordable prices, but its mostly online-only sales model has tended to rub consumers up the wrong way more often than not....

Thankfully, it looks like they’ve come up with a solution to this problem and have partnered with a local consumer electronics contract manufacturer, Dixon Technologies, and together, they’re planning to manufacture around 55,000 Mi TV sets every month locally in India. Xiaomi had previously partnered with Foxconn to produce the TVs locally in India and this seems to be their second partnership to up their scale of manufacturing. Xiaomi made its Make in India plans clear stating that they want to try their hand at other consumer electronics too other than just smartphones while they also strive towards increasing the supply of already existing products....

The Redmi 7 features a 6.26-inch (1520 × 720 pixels) HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9, with 2.5D curved glass, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Under the hood, it is powered by a 14nm-based, 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 632 chipset with Adreno 506 GPU, paired with 2GB, 3GB, or 4GB of RAM, and 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB using a microSD card)....

For a refresh, the Note 4G sports a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 8 gigs of internal storage. The dual-SIM capable phone supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-FI and other connectivity options. Launched in November last year, the Redmi Note 4G has been a sleeper hit for the company. The phablet, much like company’s other smartphones was sold through Flipkart on flash sales and managed to move thousands of inventories in quick successions....

Looks: holding up a mirror (finish) to a normal Note! This is really a one-sided battle. Put the two phones next to each other, and you will know why. While the Redmi Note 5 comes with a 5.99-inch full HD+ screen with 18:9 aspect ratio, there is nothing about the Note 5 which would make you want to look at it twice. Do not get us wrong, the Note 5 feels strong and sturdy with its metal back, but there is nothing exciting about its looks....

But the Y1 is not quite like any other budget smartphone that the company has launched so far – it is the first from the Xiaomi stable to be targeted at selfie lovers, with a front-facing camera that has a higher megapixel count than the rear one. Is this is going to be another hit straight off the bat by the company? Or will it stumble in selfieland (we did not say “selfiestan”!...

Looks and appearance Separated by less than 5 grams in weight, both the phones are very well built. Lots of metal in them, chamfered edges, shiny portions, good feel in the hands and well built and fit buttons. As slippery as they both can get, we favor the P2 with its curved back, and thinner frame by just a bit in spite of packing a bigger battery compared to the Redmi Note 4....
